True Spring Hair Colours
Golden brunette, warm caramel, dark blonde and deeper nutty browns are the most common naturally-occurring hair colours for this season.
If you want to change your hair colour, keep the colour very, very warm.
Ashy, platinum or cool-warm versions of blonde won’t harmonise at all and can be very ageing.
Your reds are bright coppery, orangey or strawberry blonde.
Accessories
Metals
Because your natural colouring is very warm, you want to repeat that in your accessories. The best metal for True Spring is a warm, yellow gold. Light, shiny gold is better than a rich, dark gold.
Warm rose gold and white gold can also work. Make sure your metals are shiny.
Silver or matte finishes metals will not go well with your colouring and you should avoid.
Beautiful stones for you: coral, turquoise, sunstone, andesine, carnelian, citrine, golden beryl, tsavorite and spessartite.
Sunglasses
Like everything else, true spring eyewear needs to be warm.
Glasses frames can be any of the metals discussed above, or any colour in the palette. Colourful frames work beautifully on you and can add a bit of fun.
For sunglasses avoid the black ones, as they are too dark and cool. Tortoise frames work great and also shining frames and lenses as brightness is your secondary feature.
Make-up
To achieve a harmonious look, you should mimic your natural characteristics and your natural contrast with your make-up. If you want more info on true spring's features and contrast levels, click here.
Foundation and concealer
If you are a true spring, your primary colour aspect is your warm undertone (hue), and your secondary aspect is the brightness of your features (high chroma).
There is no easy way to find your perfect foundation, it really is a matter of trial and error.
However, you should always select foundations and concealers with warm undertones (yellowish/golden look). These products are best when they are natural, creamy, radiant or sheer.
Avoid blue-based pinky foundations with cool undertones that will clash with your naturally warm complexion. Also, stay away from matte, heavy, and 'dry' finishes. If you’re new to all of this, I highly recommend you try the makeup on in-person.
Lots of brands have “W, N, NW, NC, C” on the label, which makes easier to match your undertone.
Its worth mentioning that MAC uses a different method, and it’s the opposite of other brands:
A person with warm undertone would be suited well to an NC foundation whereas a person with cool undertones would be better suited to an NW foundation.
A person with a beige undertone (neutral) would be perfectly suited to an N foundation.
Bronzer & Highlighter
Bronzer was made for you, as it brings out a healthy and golden glow in your appearance. Look for peachy and golden colours rather than burnt oranges.
In general, choose highlighting over contouring. The first adds light and lifts, but the latter adds depth, which is more appropriate for Autumns.
Eyeshadows
Neutral eyeshadow colours are the are the creams, beiges and browns on the palette.
For highlight and accent eyeshadow colours, opt for the brighter, more colourful colours on your palette.
When you select eyeshadows, go for creamy consistencies and shimmer finishes.
Try to avoid matte eyeshadows because that will clash with your brightness. Your appearance needs some glow and freshness.
Blushes
Salmon, peach and coral tones are fantastic options for blush colours. Make sure you choose warm, light and yellow-based colours with a shimmery finish.
The perfect blush colour will depend on your individual skin tone, so trying these colours on in person will be an essential learning curve.
Mascara and Eyeliner
Eyeliner and mascara are the darker shades from your palette. You wont regret investing in browns instead of black. Once you try the warmer colours instead of black you’ll be amazed at how much more harmonious and gentle it can be with your colouring.
As an eyeliner, you can use any colour from your palette and, if you want to bring out your eyes, choose an eyeliner in a similar colour.
Lipsticks
True Spring lipstick colours range from peaches through nude lips, up to brighter oranges and corals. Your best lipstick colours are warm and not too dark.
Go for glossy, shiny finishes to match your natural brightness. Avoid matte lipsticks, cool colours as well as muted colours - all of these will clash with your complexion.
The level of intensity you will be aiming for should match your contrast level. This will ensure balance and that your lip colour won’t pull focus.
This can also dependend on the purpose of the makeup; if you want to look balanced and harmonious, repeat your contrast level. If you want a dramatic effect and an impactful look, going a few shades darker will do the trick.
