Soft Autumn Hair Colours
Soft Autumn's hair might be different colours and its quite variable.
Blonde can be really flaterring for this season, as long as it's a honey colour, rich flax or caramel. Red can be a light auburn or strawberry blonde, but it's always browned and quite deep.
If you want to dye your hair, make sure you are opting for a neutral/warm tone and try to keep your natural contrast (medium or low) and natural depth.
Leave the platinum and ashy versions to other seasons and don’t go too dark or cool.
Accessories
Metals
Because your natural colouring is neutral-warm, there is a variety of metals you can use: silver, bronze, white gold, rose gold and yellow gold, as long as they are soft and muted enough.
Brushed, matte and antiqued metals are great options. Wood and other natural materials also make great jewellery for Autumns.
Bright and shiny metals are like bright colours — they’ll overwhelm our natural soft colouring and look off on you.
Gemsotnes for soft autumn include labradorite, rhodochrosite, rutilated or smoky quartz, jasper, moss agate, turquoise and coral. Pearls are another great option. But look for ones with brown, cream and or green shades.
Sunglasses
Like everything else, soft autumn eyewear needs to be muted. Metals can be any of the discussed above, and even better when brushed or matte. You can use any colour from your palette on frames and glasses.
Avoid black as it can be too harsh on your soft colouring - opt for grey and brown instead. Also avoid shiny metals, bright colours and anything reflective.
Make-up
Soft Autumn beauties make that natural make-up look effortless. To achieve a harmonious look, you should mimic your natural characteristics and your natural contrast with your make-up. If you want more info on soft autumn's features and contrast levels, click here.
Foundation and concealer
If you are a soft autumn, your primary colour aspect is the softness of your features (low chroma) and your secondary aspect is your neutral-warm undertone (hue).
There is no easy way to find your perfect foundation, it really is a matter of trial and error.
However, you should always select foundations and concealers with warm or neutral-warm undertones (yellowish look). A matte appearance is ideal for you, so products are best when they have a satin finish.
Avoid shiny and dewy finishes with cool undertones as they will clash with your naturally soft and warm complexion. If you’re new to all of this, I highly recommend you try the makeup on in-person.
Lots of brands have “W, N, NW, NC, C” on the label, which makes easier to match your undertone.
Its worth mentioning that MAC uses a different method, and it’s the opposite of other brands: A person with warm undertone would be suited well to an NC foundation whereas a person with cool undertones would be better suited to an NW foundation. A person with a beige undertone (neutral) would be perfectly suited to an N foundation.
Bronzer & Highlighter
Bronzer is a great product for you, as it brings out a healthy, warm and golden glow.
However, as a Soft Autumn, you cannot handle too much warmth. So avoid the orangey and burnt red tones. Your bronzer is a pinker, dustier bronze. Or you can also use a slightly darker powder than your foundation.
Apart from the overly warm and dark shades, avoid bronzers that are too shimmery, as they can overwhelm your gentle colouring.
Highlighter brings out all the shine and brightness, so they don’t really flatter you.
Eyeshadows
Your best colours are the neutral eyeshadows and you have a variety of beiges, browns, khkis and taupes.
For highlight eyeshadow colours, opt for the soft and warm reds, pinks, blues and greens from your palette.
When selecting eyeshadows, opt for a matte finish and stay away from anything shimmery or glitter that could clash with your soft appearance. Avoid overly dark, bright colours and also icy eyeshadows with a strong blue/cool undertone.
Blushes
Soft Autumn blush colours are the peachy tones and light dusty pinks from your palette.
Opt for matte finishes, they will give you a fresh-faced appearance; anything sparkly or shiny will look off on you. Blush colours should reflect your natural soft look and should blend with your skin tone naturally.
Avoid bright and cool colours as they will clash with your soft and warm complexion.
But again, trying these colours on in person will be an essential learning curve.
Mascara and Eyeliner
Eyeliner and mascara are the darker shades from your palette. You wont regret investing on warm browns instead of black. Once you try the slightly softer colours instead of black you’ll be amazed at how much more harmonious and gentle it can be with your colouring.
As an eyeliner, you can use any colour from your palette, such as browns, greys and more colourful purple or green colours. If you want to bring out your eyes, choose an eyeliner in a similar colour.
Lipsticks
Soft Autumn lipsticks are a variety of warm, golden colours. For a harmonious look, choose a matte finish as shiny finishes and lip gloss can overwhelm your muted appearance.
Avoid anything bright and cool - such as purples and barbie pinks.
The level of intensity you will be aiming for should match your contrast level. This will ensure balance and that your lip colour won’t pull focus. Opt for a lipstick similar to your natural lip colour for a very subtle daytime look.
This can also dependend on the purpose of the makeup; if you want to look balanced and harmonious, repeat your contrast level. If you want a dramatic effect and an impactful look, going a few shades darker will do the trick.
